WHAT IS CLEANERY?

What is Cleanery?

Cleanery is a New Zealand-made cleaning brand creating low-waste, refillable household cleaning products.

Our products come as concentrated powders that you mix with water at home to create everyday cleaning sprays — reducing plastic waste, shipping weight, and unnecessary packaging.

What kind of products does Cleanery make?

Cleanery makes refillable cleaning and personal care products, including:

  • Multipurpose surface cleaners
  • Kitchen surface cleaner
  • Hospital Grade Bathroom Cleaner
  • Dishwashing products
  • Hand wash / soap

All products are designed as concentrates that you mix at home and use in reusable bottles.

They are designed to replace traditional liquid cleaning and personal care products that come in single-use plastic bottles.

How is Cleanery different from traditional cleaning and personal care products?

Most household and personal care products are mostly water and packaged in single-use plastic bottles.

Cleanery removes the water and delivers a concentrated format that you activate at home — reducing waste while maintaining performance across cleaning, dishwashing, and hand care.

Where are Cleanery products made?

Cleanery's award-winning products are formulated and made in New Zealand, and are used in homes across New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.

Where can I buy Cleanery products?

You can buy Cleanery products online from our website in Australia, New Zealand and the USA, and in a range of supermarkets and specialty stores around New Zealand, Australia, and in the USA. See stockists for a full list of where to shop.

HOW DO CLEANERY PRODUCTS WORK?

What type of products does Cleanery sell?

Cleanery sells surface spray cleaners, dishwashing products, and hand soaps.

Cleanery's surface cleaner products include multipurpose surface cleaners, designed for everyday household cleaning, kitchen cleaners and bathroom cleanerss, covering all areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, glass, and general surfaces.

Cleanery's dishwash range includes foaming dish wash and dishwashing liquid.

Cleanery's personal care products include liquid gel hand wash / hand soap, and foaming hand was / hand soap

Why are Cleanery products in powder form?

The powder format removes water from the product, which:

  • Reduces packaging and plastic waste
  • Makes shipping lighter and more efficient
  • Allows you to reuse your existing bottles
  • Is a concentrate format that allows enough active ingredients to deliver a super-effective clean

How do Cleanery products work?

Cleanery products are designed as a simple refill system that is immediately ready to use:

  1. Add the powder to your bottle
  2. Fill with warm water
  3. Shake gently
  4. Use like a standard cleaning spray

Once mixed, the product works just like a traditional liquid cleaner or hand soap

What is the shelf life of Cleanery products?

The shelf life of Cleanery products is two years in the packet, and as long as your product takes to use up once made.

You can view the full ingredients list here.

Are Cleanery products safe?

Yes — Cleanery products are safe for use around your home, family and pets when used as directed.

As with all cleaning products, we recommend testing on an inconspicuous surface first.

Are Cleanery products vegan?

Cleanery products are vegan and cruelty free. We will never test our products on animals.

Are Cleanery products septic tank safe?

They sure are. Septic tanks, worm farms systems. All good.

Are Cleanery products antibacterial?

Our products have all been carefully formulated to have an antibacterial effect (ie kills and removes the true nasties) by using combinations of cleaning materials that have antibacterial properties.

We specifically do not use residual antibacterial ingredients/additives like trichlosan and benzalkonium chloride that encourage bacterial resistance.

Our ingredients also include natural ingredients that naturally help fight harmful diseases. Basically you’ll get a fantastic clean without worrying about building bacterial resistance.

The bathroom cleaner specifically is our most powerful antibacterial cleaner and is hospital grade, 5log.

Official recommendations for thorough cleaning practice in areas you are concerned about is to use an effective cleaning product to clean the surface, and follow with a disinfectant that will be sure to kill anything remaining. Disinfectant kills germs, but it does not clean, which is why it's important to clean first (and in most every day instances, a good cleaning routine with an effective cleaner will remove the need for disinfectant)

Have Cleanery products been dermatologically tested?

Cleanery personal care products are dermatologically approved. This means that they have been lab-assessed for potential for irritation and allergic reactions. Tests are conducted using human volunteers (never animals).

Cleanery products have been designed to be extremely gentle, and have been formulated with sensitive skin in mind.

HOW TO USE CLEANERY PRODUCTS

How do I use Cleanery products?

Cleanery's cleaning products are designed to be used just like traditional products.

For our cleaning range, spray and wipe using a cloth as you would with traditional cleaning sprays.

For Cleanery's personal care range, use as you would your normal products.

As with all household and personal care products, we recommend testing them on an inconspicuous spot or doing a skin patch test before using.

Best practice for mixing up Cleanery products

Use a clean bottle when mixing up your new spray. Slowly run the water into the bottle to avoid overflow or excess of bubbles. Warm water will always give best results when mixing up your Cleanery products. If you use extra cold water, allow a little more time for the product to clear and dissolve before spraying – don’t worry, it will get there.

How long does the Cleanery powder take to dissolve?

Cleanery products dissolve quickly.

Simply shake after mixing and wait around 30 seconds before use.

Once mixed up, use like normal.

What do I mix Cleanery products up in?

Cleanery products are designed to be used in any reusable bottle of a suitable size.

Cleanery also sells reusable bottles. Please check out our range for a choice of bottles and replacement trigger sprays and pump heads.

That said, we really encourage you to reuse a bottle you already have if you can. And feel good about the fact that every Cleanery sachet you use means one less single use plastic bottle in the world.

What surfaces can I use Cleanery on?

Cleanery cleaning products are suitable for most household surfaces, including:

  • Kitchen surfaces
  • Bathroom areas
  • Glass and mirrors
  • General hard surfaces

For delicate surfaces like marble or worn materials, we recommend spot testing first.

When using them on granite or similar stone surfaces, we recommend spraying the product on to a cloth and then wiping, rather than spraying directly on to the granite.

Can I use the products on granite and stone?

Yes you can, but we would advise spraying the product on to a cloth and then wiping, rather than spraying directly on to the granite. Never let any cleaning product (not just ours) sit for long periods of time on stone or granite in case it penetrates the porous stone.

As with all household products, we recommend testing them on an inconspicuous spot before using, especially on older or damaged surfaces.

If you have any surface queries please reach out, our science team are always more than happy to advise. hello@cleanery.co.nz

Trigger Spray or Pump Head has failed

The weakest point of any bottle (not just Cleanery bottles) will be the trigger spray head for a cleaning product, or pump head for a hand soap. Even with careful use, the trigger sprays and pump heads will eventually wear out over time due to the springs and mechanisms inside.

Cleanery offers affordable replacements, allowing you to keep using your reusable bottle base indefinitely. Shop here

If your spray head or pump head reaches its end of life before it should, please reach out at hello@cleanery.co.nz and we will replace it - please always hang on to the bottle base, as this should last indefinitely.
